Fuelcooler

In addition to energy carrier, fuel is also used to cool the engine. Particularly with diesel engines, up to ninety percent of the pumped fuel can in some cases be used for cooling instead of combustion. Without cooling it back, the fuel tank will warm up to alarm values over time.

Cooling of diesel and HFO

Given the large quantities of fuel available, it is relatively easy to keep an engine at the right temperature. However, if the fuel gets too hot, it must be cooled with (sea) water or by means of fans (electric (24VDC-690V), hydraulic or pulley driven).

Materials can vary from Cu, aluminum, titanium or stainless steel.
